AIC specialty graduates took the OLA examination

The 15 resident doctors - graduates of the specialty Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (AIC) - passed the OLA exam (European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care On-Line Assessment), organized by the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care/ESAIC). The exam was held on April 26, 2024, at the University Center for Simulation in Medical Training of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova.
The exam lasted 180 minutes and included 120 questions divided into two parts of 60 items each: part A (basic sciences applied in AIC) and part B (clinical anesthesiology, intensive care, pain management and medical emergencies).
The graduates, distributed in two rooms with computers, were monitored throughout the exam by an OLA ESAIC coordinator from a monitoring center, in real time: logging in, progress and logging out of registered candidates from several countries.
According to the organizers, the exam schedule is unique for the entire European space, the variations being determined only by the country's time zone. The OLA exam is a mandatory component of the graduation exam for postgraduate studies through residency for all fourth-year resident doctors in the specialty of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology. The OLA exam was approved based on collaboration agreements between ESAIC, SRATI and SARRM, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova. Thanks to the implementation of the OLA exam, it will be possible to align the theoretical skills of residents from the Anesthesiology and Reanimatology specialty to European standards and ensure total transparency.
The results of the assessment test will be available in a few weeks and represent confidential information, each year it is sent exclusively to the department heads and the president of the State Examinations Commission for the AIC specialty, for the calculation of the final grade. Each candidate will receive their detailed personal result at their email address.
The OLA exam is available in 11 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Chinese.
